About the University of Vienna and the Dutch department

Vienna University dates back to 1365 and is the oldest university in the German language and cultural area. With over 89,000 students Vienna University is one of the largest universities in Central Europe.

From the beginning of the Dutch Studies, educational material has been developed, such as the language method Welkom, the History of Dutch and Business Dutch for non-Dutch speakers.

Furthermore, the Vienna Department of Dutch was actively working on the development and use of new media for the study of the Dutch language, literature and culture. In this context, a large number of virtual modules have been developed.
